Qualification & Procedure for Admission to the Bermuda Bar
Notary Public:
Amendments to Section 4 of the Commissioners of Oath Act Notary & Public Act 1972 were published in March 2015 removing the requirement for the applicant to be Bermudian Barrister & Attorney with 5 years call to the Bermuda Bar and any person entitled to practice as a Notary Public in a Commonwealth Jurisdiction. Applications are to be made directly to the Registrar of the Supreme Court. Once approved, each Barrister & Attorney is issued a Case No. and a date of enrolment. The Courts will then provide the Bar Assocication with the updated list of Notaries.

Bermuda recognised and registered as qualified jurisdiction under the Solicitors Regulation Authority ("SRA"):
Bar Council is pleased to announce that the Bermuda Bar Association is a recognised jurisdiction under the SRA. This provides an avenue for Attorneys/Lawyers admitted to practice law in Bermuda to be qualified to practice as solicitors in the UK. The SRA allows Lawyers qualified in foreign jurisdictions (other than the UK) to apply and ultimately be admitted as solicitors in the UK via a transfer under the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme ("QLTS"), which includes certain degrees of testing; such degree is dependent upon the individual's legal qualification and the jurisdiction where the said Lawyer is qualified.
