marshalling picThis scheme enables students who have completed their law degree or common professional examinations but have not yet been called to the Bar or started articles or pupilage, to spend a day or days (up to two weeks) in Court with a Supreme Court Judge. The Bermuda Bar Association offers this opportunity to Bermudian law students in conjunction with the Supreme Court of Bermuda.

The Bar Association in Conjunction with former the Honourable Chief Justice offer the scheme for a student who has completed his/her law degree and before they start a pupilage to shadow a Justices during Court sessions. The Marshalling Scheme was spearheaded into action several years ago by the then Chief Justice, Richard Ground and former Presidents of the Bar Association, Mrs. Robin Mayor (2005/6), Mr. Rod Attride-Stirling (2007/8) and Ms. Kiernan Bell (2009/10). Sir Richard Ground was an avid teacher who took the time to listen and provide guidance to law students and newly admitted members of the bar. Sir Richard Ground passed away on the 22nd of February 2014 after a short illness. This award has now been dedicated in his memory.

Participants are provided with the opportunity to meet local and international Attorneys, Barristers & visiting QC's. 'Students must have obtained a Law degree and attend the scheme before commencing a pupilage'. Bar Council are very grateful to the Chief Hon. Chief Justice Dr. Ian R. C.
